Todos Santos: Kind of a Bust

It was a beautiful drive from San Jose del Cabo to Todos Santos. We stopped at Agricole for some road snacks and their Insta-famous Fresas con crema. Problems started as soon as we checked into the hotel.
Swarms of bugs, broken A/C, major construction on the alleged 5-star property. I’m a pretty laid-back traveler, but this was too much. By the time everything came to a head it was nearly midnight. Options were limited. We got moved to a different suite for the night with apologies and a promise of a refund.
I woke up this morning and set about trying to salvage what’s left of the trip. I found a nice place back down south on a swimmable beach. Honestly, I should’ve just done that from the beginning, but I let myself get influenced by all the YouTube videos about Todos Santos, Los Cerritos, etc.
Lesson learned. If you aren’t a surfer using Todos Santos as a base for the nearby surf spots, then there’s nothing here for you. The “charming little streets” during the low season are mostly closed shops, trash, and stray dogs.
We loaded up the rental car and buckled up for the trip back to Los Cabos. The car didn’t start. Completely dead. When it rains…
I called Cactus Rentals and they dispatched someone from San Jose del Cabo. It’ll be a couple of hours. So, we’re stranded. I’m writing this to kill time. My wife and son are watching some trashy reality show on Netflix. So it goes.
