A Win on Woden’s Day

Wednesday comes from Wōdnesdæg, or Woden's Day. Behold, the gray god!

Dealing with the VA is like a boxing match. Their bureaucratic jabs render your plans pointless, and their incomprehensible denials are left hooks that put you down for the count. But over time, your jaw becomes more iron than glass. Your footwork improves. You start to think you might have a chance if you can just make it to the next round.

I awoke this morning to a minor victory. A mere 10%, but with the bilateral factor, it’s enough to push me a step higher. Only one more to go.

After well over a hundred days of obsessively checking for progress, it came like a thief in the night. I suppose there’s a lesson in that.

After a frustrating morning at work, I decided to call it early again and head home. On the way, I stopped to grab a couple of banh mi for our lunch.

My front lawn is a bit torn up – evidence that the city finally came and repaired that water line. Time will tell if they adjust the bill accordingly without me having to call. The cleaners were at the house when I arrived. The wife and I ate quickly before they made it to the kitchen and retreated upstairs to give them space to work.

I only stopped playing Elden Ring to make a pot of coffee, but it’s a good thing I did. I have a meeting at four that I completely forgot about. If not for my crippling caffeine addiction, I wouldn’t have noticed the time.

I’m still considering some travel, despite the costs. It’s just money, after all. I’ll probably look at flights while people spout their very important business buzzwords in this upcoming meeting.

Otherwise, if the fates allow it, the evening will be one of family, books, games, and a bit of botany.
