Four Nines Fine

My little unintentional writing streak was broken yesterday. I’ve been so obsessed with Elden Ring that I haven’t done much else. Nearly 20 hours just this weekend. For the first time in my life, I have a relatively high-end gaming rig, so I might as well enjoy it.

Tomorrow is the wife’s birthday. I got her gold. Not jewelry. A half ounce of pure gold. Four nines fine, baby.
We’ve been together a very long time and all the usual gifts feel played out. More jewelry, another vacation, a new device? She gets any of those things whenever she wants. So what do you get the person who has everything? Straight up precious metal!
Think about it: it’s a tangible asset, a hedge against inflation. It’s real wealth, in your hands as opposed to numbers on a screen. If or when things go to shit or your paper currency is worthless, gold is still gold. And women love gold.
Well, Persian women do, anyway.
I also took tomorrow off. We’ll spend the day relaxing together, maybe go out for a nice lunch. After 40, it’s the little things that are most fulfilling.
